Preserving America Grant Recipients
Since its launch in 2022, the Preserving America Grant Program has awarded almost $3 million to fund 321 projects across the country. These projects tell the incredible story of our nation’s founding era through its first century.

Andrew Jackson Foundation to restore an 1820s guitar used at Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage.
Arnold Expedition Historical Society to create and promote a permanent bateau display.
Artillery Company of Newport to help restore the Company's armory building.
Avon Historical Society, Inc. to conserve and provide a permanent display for a woman's silk dress.
Bedford Heritage Trust to revitalize the display of the Museum's 1814 Brumbaugh Conestoga Wagon.
Belle Mont Mansion to conserve and reupholster a Federal period sofa and an early transitional Victorian sofa.
Brandywine Battlefield Park Associates to support the Discovery Days program for students experiencing education challenges.
Buchanan Log House Chapter, Association for the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities to repair and preserve the Buchanan Log House.
Campaign for Saratoga 250, Inc. to support the creation of the Saratoga Interactive Augmented Reality Exhibit.
Canterbury Shaker Village to preserve ten windows in Canterbury Shaker Village’s historic Meeting House.
Catoctin Furnace Historical Society, Inc. to conserve and repair an historic 19th century J.C. Onions Company bellows.
Cedar Hill Cemetery Foundation to support the preservation of the Beach Monument’s south relief sculpture and the redesign of its existing enclosure.
Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home to make significant repairs to the historic home that houses the museum.
Coastal Heritage Society Inc to conserve a Revolutionary War cannon recovered from the Savanah River for display at the Savannah History Museum.
Colonial Williamsburg Foundation to support the expansion of Colonial Williamsburg's historic farming and gardening program.
Constituting America to support YouTube promotion of the annual 90-Day Online Study.
Crawford County Historical Society to create interpretational materials.
Culture & Heritage Museums to restore the roof on an historic frame outbuilding.
Davidson's Fort Historic Park to restore the Park's blacksmith shop and provide new signage.
Discovery Expedition of St. Charles to expand the part-time interpreter program.
Fort Adams Trust to secure a section of the Northeast Demi-Bastion (Over-Night Barracks).

Friends of Ashby's Fort to provide a touch screen display showing short videos of participants in the American Revolution.

Friends of Dey Mansion to assess and conserve a mid-18th century French coat attributed to General Rochambeau.
Friends of Gaineswood, Inc. to improve visibility of Gaineswood National Historic Landmark and educate visitors through additional interpretive and directional signage.
Friends of Longfellow House–Washington's Headquarters, Inc. to restore cornices in H. W. Longfellow's study.
Friends of Washington Crossing Park to support living history programs on the life of 18th century soldiers.
Furnace Town Foundation Inc. to preserve the Nassawango Iron Furnace.
Gadsden Chapter - New Mexico Society Sons of the American Revolution to support a Speaker’s Bureau and traveling trunk of American Revolution artifacts for schools.
Georgia Salzburger Society to conserve two original oil paintings of Georgia Salzburger descendants.
Gettysburg Foundation to provide educational programming at the Gettysburg Lincoln Railroad Station.
Gold Discovery Park Association to repair and preserve the Park's historic blacksmith shop.
Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center to make repairs to a log stagecoach station.
Green-Meldrim House to conserve the interior dome of the Green-Meldrim House.
Hart Square Foundation, Inc. to restore the Punch-Seitz Cabin housed at Hart Square Village.
Heritage Hill State Historical Park to provide uniforms and musical instruments for a growing Fife and Drum Corps.
Historic Annapolis, Inc. to support wayfinding and interpretive signage for three properties.
Historic Camden Foundation to construct and interpret an 18th century outdoor oven for McCaa's Tavern.
Historic Harmony/Harmony Museum to expand the George Washington 1753 Mission exhibit.
Historic Huguenot Street to provide critical repairs to the site's 1799 House.
Historic Trappe to restore the plaster walls and ceiling of the Speaker's House kitchen.
Historic Village at Allaire to purchase historic clothing for the Village's volunteer historic interpreters.
Historic Winslow House Association to restore the front door of the Historic Winslow House.
James K Polk Home & Museum to paint stairs and install stair runner .
Jamestown Rediscovery Foundation to create a new, permanent exhibit interpreting Jamestown’s iconic brick church tower.
Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation to produce and acquire new clothing and equipment for the Continental Army encampment.
Kernstown Battlefield Association to replace almost two dozen damaged or missing historically correct shutters on the 1854 Pritchard House.
King Manor Museum to support the research and interpretation of servants quarters and to interpret one of these spaces as a bedroom for Margaret, an African-American domestic servant who worked for Founding Father Rufus King.
Les Amis du Fort de Chartres to create educational programming materials.
Lewis and Clark Trail Heritage Foundation KS-MO Riverbend Chapter to purchase reproduction clothing, material culture, and related items for the Officers’ Quarters building.
Maine's First Ship to support Sailing the 17th Century Pinnace Virginia.
Mare Island Historic Park Foundation to digitize records and help with the completion of an audio/visual system for the Foundation's Speakers Series.
Michigan's Military Heritage Museum to preserve two pieces of artillery.
Moffatt-Ladd House & Garden to replace the roof of the historic 18th century warehouse on the Moffatt-Ladd House site.
Monmouth County Historical Association to help repair and restore the windows of the Covenhoven House.
Mount Vernon Hotel Museum & Garden to support the “50 Years of American Independence at the Mount Vernon Hotel” program.
Mount Vernon Ladies Association to restore a historic gristmill.
Museum of the American Revolution to to preserve three historical artifacts, a deed of the Potts family from Valley Forge, PA; a journal from 1834 by Christopher Hawkins; and an orderly book from the 1st Pennsylvania Regiment.
National Museum of Civil War Medicine to provide authentic Civil War accessories and interpretive text panels for use with the Museum's reproduction Civil War ambulances.
National Museum of American History, Smithsonian Institution to help restore and preserve the Gunboat Philadelphia.
National Society of Colonial Dames of America in Florida (Ximenez-Fatio House) to support the preservation of Coquina with mortar replacement and lime wash of principal rooms in the museum.
National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution to preserve the hunting gun carried by Lt. Jacob Vrooman in the Revolutionary War.
Neville House Associates to support the cost to repair Woodville's porch roof.
Newport Historical Society to support roof replacement at the Wanton-Lyman-Hazard House.
Nolensville Historical Society to support preservation efforts at the Morton-Brittain House; educate visitors through permanent on-site signage; and develop strategies to increase visibility and reach of the historical site.
Old Economy Village to update and refresh the in-situ recreation of one of the earliest public natural history museums in America and provide enhanced educational resources.
Old North Illuminated to restore two 18th century chandeliers.
Overmountain Victory Trail Association to install Informational signs at a new parking area.
Patrick Henry's Red Hill to install new safety rails with educational panels in the Henry House, Law Office, Kitchen, Smokehouse and Coachman’s Cabin.
Pendleton Historic Foundation to restore the interior flooring for The Jenkins House & Farm at Kirkley Hill.
Plimoth Patuxet Museums to purchase artifacts for the English Village and support the palisade reconstruction project.
Portsmouth Historical Society to support painting at the John Paul Jones House.
Preservation Virginia to conserve the windows at Bacon's Castle.
Prince William Historic Preservation Foundation to fund the fabrication and installation of the "Prince William Resolves" exhibit at the Williams Ordinary.
Renfrew Museum and Park to support the refurbishment, preservation, and interpretation of the historic Federal Era Milk House.
Rock Ford Foundation to conserve three late 18th century Lancaster, Pennsylvania landscape paintings.
Seminary Ridge Historic Preservation Foundation to add tangible, sensory elements to educational programming on Seminary RIdge.
Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation to restore the Virginia Monument at New Market Battlefield.
Shippensburg History Center to build a historical bread oven for education programs and group demonstrations.
South Union Shaker Village to replicate large brick range.
St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum to conserve and provide an exhibit addition of artifacts recovered from the 1782 shipwreck in St. Augustine.
St. John's Church Foundation to preserve the grave of American Patriot Edward Carrington.
Stamford History Center to conserve the Quartermaster Thomas Couch Orderly Book.
Stratford Hall to produce four short-format videos on the historical significance of Stratford Hall and its resident communities.
Tate House Museum to design a new website.
The Cairo Historical Preservation Project, Inc. to restore and repaint the plaster walls and ceilings of the 1872 Cairo Custom House.
The Carpenters' Company of the City and County of Philadelphia to stabilize and preserve three historic fire buckets with the oldest known image of Carpenters' Hall.
The Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation to support interactive educational programming about colonial farm life in the mid-18th century.
The Conococheague Institute to support Colonial life education programs for large school field trips, sharing programs with a virtual audience, and expanding sensory learning in the Institute's 18th century tavern exhibit.
The Delaware Company of NY, Inc. to develop a living history program on Colonial Era frontier medicine.
The Fort Ticonderoga Association to support the reopening of the fort's powder magazine and develop an interactive area for the public.
The Friends of Perryville Battlefield to support a museum exhibit on the aftermath of the Battle of Perryville.
The Lewes Historical Society to construct a permanent exhibition, Burton Ingram House Parlor.
The Library of Virginia to conserve and digitize the executive papers of Virginia Governor Thomas Nelson.
The Murfreesboro Historical Association, Inc. to repair and replacement wooden siding on the Dr. Walter Reed House.
The National Civil War Museum to help update the Museum's permanent galleries.
The Pursuit of History to create a multi-year series of "master classes" on New England in the American Revolution with a companion publication.
Tipton-Haynes Historical Association, Inc. to make an introductory film of the site's history for visitors, while also upgrading the museum exhibit audio/visual technology and track lighting.
Travelers' Rest Connection to create an introductory video for the Visitor Center.
Tybee Island Historical Society, Inc. to restore the historic Tybee Island Lighthouse.
United Daughters of the Confederacy to purchase historic books for their library.
Warren County Historical Society to support the creation of the Joseph Warren Museum.
Warrior Run-Fort Freeland Heritage Society to support hardware restoration with repainting and repairs to two sets of church doors.
Washington County Historical Societty to preserve and restore specific features of the Francis Julius LeMoyne House.
Washington County Historical Society to have a Revolutionary War cannon memorialized with two interpretive plaques for public education and to do repair work on the property surrounding the cannon memorial.
Washington Crossing Park Association to restore a monument at the site of Washington's Crossing of the Delaware, as well as eight historic cast iron signs at Washington Crossing State Park.
Washington Heritage Museums to assess and repair an early 19th century porch on the Mary Washington House.
WCHS - John Hay Center to preserve the John Milton Hay birthplace.
Webb Deane Stevens Museum to conserve the interior shutters and entry door of the Joseph Webb House.
West Point Association of Graduates to support the next iteration of West Point’s Digital History Center’s multi-year initiative, “Mapping the American Revolution in the Hudson River Valley”.
Wisconsin Society Daughters of the American Revolution - Fort Winnebago Surgeons Quarters to help offset the cost of extending the Society's educational programming outreach to schools across the state.
York County History Center to replace ten reproduction Colonial Court House shutters.
